Dear friends,
I buried my little brother, Eytan, on Tuesday afternoon. He was 23 years old.
He took his own life. We love him very much and we will miss him forever.
Siblings seem like a constant in life. We sometimes take them for granted, thinking they’ll always be there. If you have a brother or sister, tell them you love them. Take every chance to keep in touch and see them, because you never know what life might bring.
I’m going to take a little hiatus from my blog. Being in the kitchen is soothing and therapeutic for me and I hope to return there soon, but for now I am with my family.
If any of you feel so moved, please consider making a donation to a suicide prevention organization in my brother Eytan’s honor.
My dearest and absolute sympathies go to you. There are so many things I am trying to write in your time of need and I do not know if any of them are sufficient help with your grief but know that I (and many, many others) only wish the very best for you and hope that you will get through this time. In stumbling upon your blog, I came upon learning you lost your brother to suicide. It struck a cord in me, as five years ago I lost my older brother to suicide as well. This was and continues to be a very hard, complex thing to accept. Only those who have lived thru something this awful can truly know the pain it causes. Please know my prayers are with you.
